A brand new pizza concept is coming soon to downtown San Antonio from owners Joseph Gonzales and Dan Ward. The upcoming spot, called FatHead Pizza, will open on the ground floor of the Exchange Building at 152 East Pecan St. The location was last home to Kimura ramen shop, as reported by the San Antonio Business Journal.

The tentative timeline for opening is spring 2024, though a more precise grand opening date is forthcoming. Tower Construction is listed as the general contractor for onsite construction, which was noted as “starting from scratch” to completely renovate the space into a new and improved ambiance.

Formerly a construction professional, Joseph Gonzales has had his sights set on opening a pizza restaurant for a while. FatHead, his first foray into the food business, will make his dreams a reality. Gonzales’ partner Dan Ward has a longstanding history in the San Antonio restaurant industry and came out of retirement to bring FatHead to life, claiming “the quality of the food and overall experience at FatHead will draw people from all over San Antonio,” according to the SABJ article.

Though some of the menu details are still a mystery, the upcoming concept is expected to serve New York-style pizza with a full wine list as well as salads and desserts to also be offered. Customers can stay tuned for additional updates on FatHeads’ website and Instagram pages. FatHead officials were not immediately available for comment.
