What Now San Antonio reached out to CEO and Founder Shoukat Dhanani to inquire about the upcoming location, but he was not immediately available for comment. Nevertheless, a recent construction permit application provides insight into what can be expected.

According to the application, Dhanani Group intends to build a new, 2,900-square-foot outpost from the ground up — with construction scheduled to begin this June and slated for completion in June 2024. The project will cost an estimated $750,000 and be carried out by Dezynd, a design firm based in Missouri City, Texas.

For readers who are unfamiliar, Dhanani Group is one of the largest franchising groups in the US. The group narrates its origins on the company website, sharing, “Starting in the gas and convenience store business in 1976, the Dhanani Group became a franchisee for Burger King in 1994 with their first co-branded restaurant in Houston, Texas. The Sugar Land, Texas-based company is now one of the nation’s top QSR franchisees for Burger King Corporation and Popeyes with a growing presence in casual and fine dining starting with La Madeleine restaurants.”

Based on the public filing, the new Burger King outpost will likely open sometime next summer. In the meantime, San Antonio residents can visit Burger King at 11006 Culebra Road to satisfy any emerging whopper cravings.
