For readers who are unfamiliar with Chuy’s, the concept offers a brief introduction on its website: “Chuy’s opened on April 16, 1982 in an old, abandoned Texas Barbeque joint on iconic Barton Springs Road in Austin, TX.”
The statement continues, “There was seating for about sixty, a women’s restroom the size of a broom closet, and a men’s restroom that was, well, outside. Founders Mike Young and John Zapp had a vision of a fun and funky Tex-Mex restaurant that served authentic and fresh food in an atmosphere that appealed to everyone.”
These days, the restaurant is known for its “fun, eclectic, irreverent atmosphere,” according to Culture Map. Darden Restaurants — which also operates Eddie V’s, LongHorn Steakhouse, and Olive Garden, to name just a few — became the concept’s owner in July 2024.
“They currently have 101 locations in 15 states including 6 total in San Antonio, New Braunfels, and San Marcos,” the article continues.
Upcoming addresses and opening dates have not been announced yet. Stay tuned for updates.
