Coming to 419 S. Hackberry Street — taking over the former home of coffee shop The Pour Box — the restaurant will soon neighbor eateries such as Dakota East Side Ice House, Reynas Taqueria, and The Cherrity Bar.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Milpa, the concept focuses on the “overlooked street food of Mexico” and opened in 2021. Its founder, Chef Kirk, in addition to Milpa, is well-known in the San Antonio area for her creations at Ocho, Hotel Havana’s restaurant — as well as for being the first chef from San Antonio to win the Food Network contest Chopped.

According to SA Current, the location will offer around 12 seats and an outdoor patio, and patrons can expect to find tacos, quesadillas, pozole, and arroz con leche on the menu.

The concept is slated to open in mid-November. In the meantime, follow Milpa on Facebook and Instagram.
