What Now San Antonio reached out to Adobe Cafe’s owner, Fred Valdez, but he was unable to provide additional information before the time of publication.

Nevertheless, the filing provides some insight into what’s to come. The job is described as “repairing ceiling rafters” and “modifying [the] kitchen layout” of the existing 12,129-square-foot space. The job will begin on June 1 and finish on July 31 and cost an estimated $150,000 to complete.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the eatery, Adobe Cafe is known for its “homemade tortillas and award-winning salsa,” both of which are made fresh daily.

The menu ranges from Texas restaurant classics including chicken fried steak and fried mushrooms to Tex-Mex plates such as deluxe nachos, enchiladas, and quesadillas — as well as specialty items like fried avocado, sizzling fajitas made with certified angus beef, and steak ranchero. Additionally, Adobe Cafe offers a full bar that’s “ready to help you beat the heat.”

How the renovations will affect operations is still unclear, so follow Adobe Cafe on Facebook for additional updates.
